ACANAC August 2012		19 Explorers and leaders survived a week with 17,000 Portuguese scouts at ACANAC 2012 in arid conditions and temperatures reaching 43 deg C . Read more in the Sept 2012 newsletter .

Portugal Contingent Sleepover Feb 2012		Most of the Explorers and Leaders heading off to Portugal in August 2012 enjoyed a team-building weekend together. More here.

Natwest community awards 2011		We bid for up to £6000 in these awards. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful, but the Explorers still need more camping equipment, not only for large camps which require mass catering but also for Expeditions which involve lightweight camping. A useful addition would be a trailer for transport.

Tornado Activities Summer 2011		Tornado have been re-visiting some of B-P's ideas on Scouting, having been pioneering at Trent Lock and at Bramcote Woods. More photos here.

Pioneer Activities Summer 2011		Pioneer have been doing some pioneering (appropriately enough), in miniature form. They also had a rather gory time practising first aid with realistic wound makeup. More photos here.

Discovery D of E Bronze Expedition (pptx, 3.77Mb) October 2009		October 2009 saw four explorers from Discovery ESU completing their Bronze D of E expedition in the Vale of Belvoir. See their presentation (pptx, 3.77Mb)

Walking on ice February 2009		In February 2009, just after all that snow, SW Notts Explorers enjoyed an interesting evening hearing about the exploits of Andrew Cooney, a Polar Explorer and the youngest person to ever to walk to the South Pole.

Sunrise Promise August 2007		A brilliant celebration marking the beginning of the second century of Scouting, held in Dovecote Lane Park and at the Youth and Community Centre in Beeston.

Inger Trophy March 2007		An annual event resurrected as a competition for Explorer Scouts and as a linking event for older scouts aged 13½ years or older designed to test night-time navigation skills, cooking skills and above all, teamwork.

Barton Island July 2004		A dozen Explorer Scouts from Beeston, Chilwell and Stapleford spent a weekend in July 2004 trying out water activities on the river Trent.
