Explorer Scouts are young people, usually aged between 14 and 18 years old. They make up the fourth Section of the Scouting family.

The South West Notts Scout District extends from Toton and the County border in the west to Nottingham University in the east, and from Attenborough, Beeston Rylands and the River Trent in the south to Trowell in the north, covering all of Beeston, Chilwell, Bramcote and Stapleford. Explorer Scouting in South West Nottinghamshire has been growing well over the last few years, from 55 young people in 2009 to 86 in 2014, but this growth brings extra demands on the adult leadership team. Also, people move on, and this creates a need for other adults to replace them. So, Explorer Scouting in the local area has several opportunities for adults who would like to assist teenagers achieve the potentials of which they are capable.
